Avoriaz also known as (Avoriaz 1800) due to being set at 1,800m high is the highest resort in Portes du Soleil by quite some way. A pedestrianised resort situated on the side of a mountain with up to 650km of terrain you can ski across the border between France and Italy.

Avoriaz has a vast selection of accommodation from 5-star luxury chateaus to standard self-catered for much larger groups. Avoraiz also has the finest selection of French cuisine and international restaurants.

Pas de La Casa

Only 30km from the centre of Andorra. Pas de La Casa is the highest mountain pass in the Pyrenees at an altitude of 2,080 metres. A popular resort with both snowboarders and skiers alike for its excellent slopes and breath-taking scenery.

Another major attraction for holidaymakers in Pas de La Casa is the thriving nightlife with bars and nightclubs open to early hours in the morning. Not to mention the vast variety of restaurants available.

Les Deux Alpes also known as Les 2 Alpes 3600 is a popular ski resort amongst holidaymakers. Situated in the French Isère département about a 71km drive southeast of Grenoble. At a height of 1,650m and with lift runs of 3,600m it has the largest skiable glacier in Europe and is France’s second oldest ski resort.

Val Thorens

Val Thorens at an altitude of 2,300m is the highest skiing town in Europe. Found in the Tarentaise Valley, Savoie, French Alpes. Also possess some of the largest ski terrain in the world at over 600km in distance.

Laax

Laax

Laax is just two hours south east of Zurich and has over 224 km of slopes for skiing. Along with four snow parks offering different challenges to the conventional slopes such as jumps and pipes. Known as both a first timer friendly and snowboard friendly resort.

Although Laax does have some nightlife it is more a family orientated resort so is more of a quieter option for those just interested in ski and not partying.

Sestriere

Sestriere

Located in the Susa Valley within the Piedmont region of the north-western Italian Alpes close to the French border. Sestriere forms part of a 249-mile connection of resorts within the Piedmont area with over 210 trails. This resort is recommended for those that are experienced skiers and snowboarders, looking for the next challenge.

Skiing is not all Sestriere has to offer. It is also famous for the wide variety of restaurants within the resort.
